Revêtements en phase aqueuseIndex. décimale : 675 Technologie du cuir et de la fourrure Résumé : A new technique has been developed as part of leather finishing which uses ultra violet (UV) treatment to improve both the physical and aesthetic properties of the finish film. The treatment utilises a completely different reaction process than any present day technique for cross linking or fixation.
The water-based finishes can be applied conventionally, and the finishing operation is finalised by a brief fixation of between 0.4-0.6 seconds provided by a UV-mercury lamp at 90W/cm. The exposure/reaction time is controlled by adjusting the conveyor speed through the UV-polymerisation unit.
This treatment does not change the gloss/matt effect of the finish in the manner of a top spray coat, and it is possible to use fewer finish applications. The treatment is so effective that, after the UV exposure, no more finish coats can be applied, and the leather cannot be refinished.Note de contenu : - Fig. 1 : Schematic showing the reactive PU and the photo-initiator in the finish film
