Revêtements en phase aqueuse -- AdditifsIndex. décimale : 667.9 Revêtements et enduits Résumé : Large-scale addition of hydrophilic solid filler (i.e., ammonium polyphosphate) into waterborne intumescent fire-retardant coatings can cause many problems such as poor compatibility, easy absorption of moisture, and poor durability. In this work, microencapsulated ammonium polyphosphate with melamine formaldehyde resin (MFAPP) was prepared and applied in intumescent fire-retardant coatings to solve the problems mentioned. Due to the hydrophobicity of melamine formaldehyde (MF) resin, MFAPP exhibited better water resistance, thermal stability, and compatibility with polymer matrix, which was confirmed by Fourier transform infrared spectra, scanning electron microscopy (SEM), particle size test, water solubility, water contact angle, and thermogravimetric analysis (TGA). The effect of the MFAPP on durability and fire resistance of the fire-retardant coatings test were investigated by the static immersion test, fire resistance test, TGA, and SEM. Even immersed in distilled water for 12 h, the coatings containing MFAPP did not show obvious damage, indicating microencapsulation improved the water resistance of coatings. Furthermore, the fire-resistant time and thermal stability of the waterborne intumescent fire-retardant coatings were also improved remarkably by utilizing the microencapsulation of ammonium polyphosphate. Nanotubes de carbone à parois multiplesUn nanotube de carbone multifeuillet est constitué de plusieurs feuillets de graphènes enroulés les uns autour des autres. Il existe deux modèles pour décrire la structure des nanotubes multifeuillets :
- le modèle poupée russe: les plans de graphène sont arrangés en cylindres concentriques ;

(Wikipedia)Index. décimale : 668.4 Plastiques, vinyles Résumé : A one-step ultrasonic film casting process to manufacture nanocomposite films was developed, in which polycarbonate (PC) was mixed with multi-walled carbon nanotubes (CNT) and cast into films in one process. Numerical and experimental investigations of necking phenomenon were carried out for film casting of PC/CNT composites. Experimental results revealed that the necking along film line decreased with imposition of ultrasound and increasing CNT content, indicating that incorporation of CNT and imposition of ultrasound restrained the elongational flow behavior of melt, resulting in film of a larger width. Isothermal and nonisothermal numerical simulations of the process were performed. In isothermal simulations, the polymer melt was assumed to be maintained at the die temperature. In nonisothermal simulations, the temperature change along the film line was determined from heat transfer calculations with the WLF temperature-dependent viscosity. The simulated and experimental results on normalized film width, defined as a ratio of cast film width to die width, as a function of the distance from the die at various extension ratios were compared. The comparison indicated that changes in film width and thickness along the stretching direction in the nonisothermal process were in better agreement with experimental results than that in the isothermal process. Both experimental and simulated results showed a decrease of film width with take-up speed. Due to the presence of edge effect, the film width in experiment was lower than the simulated one. With incorporation of CNT, a better agreement between experimental and simulated results was obtained, due to a reduced edge effect in the film.

Revêtement de conversionIndex. décimale : 667.9 Revêtements et enduits Résumé : The eco-friendly PAA/Zn2+ conversion coatings, composed of PAA-Zn2+ complex and ZnO/Zn(OH)2, have been prepared by taking advantage of coordination-driven assembly method for suppressing steel corrosion. Because of high affinity of PAA for steel surface and various metal ions, metal ions-assisted organic molecule assembly strategy used to construct chemical conversion film on metal surface has been extended to the design and construction of polyelectrolyte–metal complex conversion coating. In this work, some film properties associated closely with film formation time containing corrosion resistance, surface microstructures, and chemical compositions were carefully investigated by using electrochemical measurements, morphologies tests, and spectra analysis and possible film-forming mechanism of PAA/Zn2+ film was proposed. The highest charge transfer resistance (Rct = 24,960 ohm cm2) was recorded for PAA/Zn2+ film based on EIS, which is about 30 times higher than that of the bare steel. And minimum corrosion current density (icorr = 1.01 × 10-7 A cm-2) was obtained for PAA/Zn2+ film from polarization curves, which is only 3.34% of that obtained from bare steel. Herein, the PAA/Zn2+ conversion coatings constructed between 30 and 60 min present outstanding corrosion resistance performance and the protection efficiencies are greater than 90%. Furthermore, PAA/Zn2+ films have a positive effect on improvement in adhesion of epoxy coating on steel surface, which can further improve corrosion resistance of whole paint system, especially for PAA/Zn2+ films fabricated for long film formation time (e.g., 30 min and 45 min). Due to environmental friendliness, strong corrosion resistance, and good adhesion performance, PAA/Zn2+ conversion coatings are expected to be an ideal substitute for the traditional chromating process.
