2. A summary of a meat producers' association commercial process used to prepare pickled sheepskins for the tanner's use ;
3. Some data on problem pickled sheepskins, as gathered from suppliers of the skins and from unusual leather results in the tannery. Considered in particular were conditions found in pickled sheepskins that are sometimes described by tanners as "lime," "drawn" necks and butts, and "chicken vire" ;
4. Some corrective processes for problem lots of pickled skins, according to good tannery practice and economic return. The tanner can alleviate during the course of his operations some of the defects that appear in his leathers : those due to conditions in his original raw stock of probable residual lime, drawn grain, "chicken wire" or checkered effect on the surface, or a combination of these difficulties. |
