Résumé : |
Studies concerned with loss of strength on drying for side upper leather submitted by six tanneries and sampled after five process steps revealed that there is a relationship between the strength of the leather and its moisture content. Leather from only one of the tanneries was resistant to high temperatures. While there was a sequential improve¬ment in the leather as it was processed from the split wet-blue stage to the staked leather, it was shown that the improvements were never suffi-. cient to change the leather from an "over 50 percent strength loss level" to an "under 50 percent strength loss level." It was concluded that the wet-blue stock to hegin with should have resistance to loss of strength on drying, and there were indications that beamhouse processes affect this property. |
