As clean as necessary - the definition of cleanliness
- Cleanliness is the reslut of ongoing monitoring
- Defining cleanliness - a joint project
- Figures : 1. Approximately 450 parts are machined to a tolerance of 0.001 millimetres and then assembled to make an engine. Technical cleanliness plays a fundamental role in this process - 2. Parts may need to be cleaned after each stage of the machining and forming process to remove lubricants, coolants and drawing greases before the next stage - 3. Ongoing inspections of the surface of parts after cleaning ensures that they are of the required quality. This not only includes checks on the components themselves, but also constant monitoring of the cleaning system and its surroundings |
