Résumé : |
Yeasts have previously been associated with stains and color imper-fections in blue chrome stocks and finished leathers. In this work several yeasts were isolated from chrome tanned crust leathers, wet blue stock, reducing sugars and syrups, and scrapings from tannery drums. Three of these different yeasts were maintained on dextrose, tartaric acid sup-plemented nutrient agar media for study. The primary objective of the study was to establish concentrations at which various fungicidal agents were effective in controlling the growth of the three yeasts. Mold was also introduced into test cultures with the yeasts in order to arrive at a comparative fungicide concentration effective in controlling their growth. In addition to the primary effect of the fungicide type and concentration on the yeasts, a number of other observations about the yeasts were noted during the course of the study. Through sugar assimi¬lation and fermentation tests, three yeasts were classified into their genera, Rhodotorula, Cladosporium, and Torulopsis. |
