Résumé : |
2-component adhesives and sealants are currently gaining more and more importance in the fields of dentistry, industry, and healthcare. These materials must be mixed efficiently and reproducibly prior to application. This article focuses on the core competency of mixing technology and on what needs to be considered when selecting the appropriate mixing system for the respective application. Part 2 of this series of articles compares static and dynamic mixing systems and discusses the advantages of dynamic mixers. In addition, an insight into the numerical flow simulation of mixers and their validation is given. |

- Fig. 1 : Typical mixing patterns in static (left) versus a dynamic mixer (right). Dynamic mixing allows multi-directional mixing and dispersion.
- Fig. 2 : Rheological behavior of a typical shear-thinning material. The light blue and grey area indicate typical shear rates of static and dynamic mixers.
