Résumé : |
It is useful to think of chemistry in terms of properties in the real world and observations of compounds' appearance, taste (if appropriate), texture and reactions. However, it is useful to break chemistry into further classifications to easier illustrate concepts about a group of compounds.
Similar to the "colours" of hydrogen, previously discussed in International Leather Maker, carbon has begun to be described by type, especially for the purposes of climate science. It is useful to remember that the "colour" of carbon has little or nothing to do with its actual chemical appearance - with one or two notable exceptions. To help you remember that the colour is the category and not the physical attribute, I've made the colour of carbon a proper noun. |
