Résumé : |
Elastane fiber is defined as at least 85% segmented polyurethane. The main building blocks of elastane are referred to as soft segments and hard segments. Together the soft and hard segments form a network within the fiber where the soft segment allows the fiber to stretch many times its original length while the hard segments cause fiber to recover. An example of a soft segment material is poly-ether glycol. Components of hard segments include isocyanates and amines. The detailed chemistry and chemical reactions to build specific soft segment and hard segment structures and network is kept as confidential and patented intellectual property. The Lycra Company is continuously developing formulations to improve the properties of existing elastane fibers and to innovate new polymers that provide additional benefits in end-uses for markets globally. |
