Cuirs et peaux -- ConservationIndex. décimale : 675 Technologie du cuir et de la fourrure Résumé : Multidrug-resistant Enterobacteriaceae originating from animals' intestinal tracts may be found on salted and soaked hides/skins. The presence of proteolytic, lipolytic, multidrug-resistant Enterobacteriaceae on hides/skins and the resulting destructive processes results in economic lusses to the leather industry and creates health hazards for workers. To minimise this destructive bacterial presence, the bactericidal effect of combined application of direct or alternating electric current and an antibacterial agent against multidrug-resistant Enterobacteriaceae were examined in this study.
Multidrug-resistant Citrobacter freundii, Citrobacter koseri, Enterobacter cloacae, Serratia rubidaea, Serratia marcescens, Serratia plymuthica, Morganella morganii, Proteus mirabilis, Providencia rettgeri, isolated from soaked hides/skins, were used in the present study. Among the test isolates, Proteus mirabilis, Serratia marcescens, Serratia plymuthica, Serratia rubidaeai were protease and lipase producer strains. Ail test isolates were resistant to critically important antimicrobials which are used in both human and veterinary medicine. Bacterial effect of combined application of 508mA/cm2 direct electric current, 454mA/cm2 alternating electric current and an antibacterial agent (2- (thiocyanomethylthio) benzothiazole) against the mixed culture of these micro-organisms were investigated in nutrient broth containing 3% NaCI. After application of six cycles of the combine electric current treatment against the mixed culture of multidrug-resistant Enterobacteriaceae treated with (2-(thiocyanomethylthio) benzothiazole) was completely killed within five hours. The Log10 reduction of the mixed culture at the end of the experiment was T55.
In conclusion, the combined application of direct electric current, alternating electric current and antibacterial agent may be used in soak liquors to eliminate proteolytic, lipolytic, multidrug-resistant Enterobacteriaceae in the leather industry.Note de contenu : - Test micro-organisms

CatabolismeLe catabolisme est l'ensemble des réactions de dégradations moléculaires de l'organisme considéré. Il est le contraire de l'anabolisme, ensemble des réactions de synthèse. Le catabolisme et l'anabolisme sont les deux composantes du métabolisme.
Les réactions de catabolisme sont des oxydations (ou des déshydrogénations) et elles sont thermodynamiquement favorables, c'est-à -dire qu'elles sont exergoniques (cédant de l'énergie chimique, produisant de l'énergie).
Les réactions du catabolisme des protides, glucides, lipides, acides nucléiques, etc., sont toutes intimement liées. Il s'agit d'un enchaînement de réactions chimiques.

EntérobactériacéesIndex. décimale : 675 Technologie du cuir et de la fourrure Résumé : Detailed examination of the members of family Enterobacteriaceae found on soaked sheepskins and cattle hides offers important information about enteric species on the samples, the efficiency of antibacterial agents used in soaking process against these enteric species and their roles in deterioration of skins or hides during soaking process. Hence, the goal of this study was to examine members of the family Enterobacteriaceae on soaked sheepskins and cattle hides treated with antibacterial agent. In this study, bacterial species belonging to the family Enterobacteriaceae on five soaked sheepskins and ten cattle hides were identified using API® 20E test kits and the other biochemical tests. While Citrobacter freundii, Citrobacter koseri, Cronobacter sakazakii, Enterobacter amnigenus, Enterobacter cloacae, Kluyvera intermedia, Morganella morganii, Proteus mirabilis and Providencia rettgeri were isolated from the soaked sheepskins, Citrobacter koseri, Cronobacter sakazakii, Ewingella americana, Kluyvera intermedia, Morganella morganii, Providencia rettgeri, Serratia marcescens, Serratia plymuthica and Serratia rubidae were obtained from the soaked cattle hides. A fairly high percentage of soaked skin and hide samples contained Enterobacteriaceae members which have catabolic activities for deterioration of skins and hides. The presence of the members of Enterobacteriaceae on the soaked skin and hide samples was thought to be related to faecal contamination, the animal itself, environmental sources and inadequate preservation. As a conclusion, efficient antibacterial treatments should be applied in soaking process to kilt Enterobacteriaceae members which may adversely affect leather quality. Résistances aux antibiotiquesIndex. décimale : 675 Technologie du cuir et de la fourrure Résumé : Antimicrobial resistance of bacteria in human and veterinary medicine has been examined for many years, but there is no information about antimicrobial resistance of Enterobacteriaceae isolated from soaked sheepskins and cattle hides. Therefore the antibiotic resistance of Enterobacteriaceae isolated from soaked sheepskins and cattle hides was investigated. The antibiotic resistance of soaked skin isolates (Citrobacter freundii, Citrobacter koseri, Cronobacter sakazakii, Enterobacter amnigenus, Enterobacter cloacae, Morganella morganii, Proteus mirabilis, Providencia rettgeri) and soaked hide isolates (Citrobacter koseri, Cronobacter sakazakii, Morganella morganii, Providencia rettgeri, Serratia marcescens, Serratia plymuthica, Serratia rubidae) towards 24 different antibiotics were examined using the disc diffusion method. Among thirteen skin isolates, the percentages of resistance against antibiotics used were aztreonam 92%, ampicillin 69%, ceftriaxone 69%, streptomycin 62%, cephalothin 62%, amoxicillin/clavulanate 62%, ceftazidime 61%, nalidixic acid 54%, ciprofloxacin 54%, chloramphenicol 46%, piperacillin/tazobactam 46%, cefuroxime sodium 46%, tetracycline 31%, sulfamethoxazole-trimethoprim 15%, cefoxitin 15%, ampicillin/sulbactam 15%, kanamycin 15%, tobramycin 8%, meropenem 8% and imipenem 8%. Among ten hide isolates, the percentages of resistance against antibiotics were, ampicillin 80%, amoxicillin/clavulanate 80%, tetracycline 70%, cefuroxime sodium 70%, streptomycin 60%, aztreonam 50%, ceftriaxone 40%, chloramphenicol 30%, ceftazidime 20%, cephalothin 20%, nalidixic acid 30%, cefoxitin 20%, ampicillin/sulbactam 20%, piperacillinitazobactam 20%, ciprofloxacin 20% and kanamycin 10%. While all skin isolates were susceptible to amikacin, gentamicin, ofloxacin, and norfloxacin, all hide isolates were susceptible to amikacin, gentamicin, tobramycin, meropenem, sulfamethoxazole-trimethoprim, norfloxacin pnd ofloxacin. As a conclusion, the species of the family Enterobacteriaceae which were resistant to the antibiotics used in human and veterinary medicine were detected on the soaked skins and hides in the leather industry.
