Résumé : |
The ideal universal finish does not exist, but it is possible to consider an ideal finish for a given crust material intended for a specific end-use. The tanner has to know the limitations of the raw material and be able to specify the application character of the finish and the purchaser has to specify the performance characteristics expected of the finished leather as well as the appearance and handle of the leather. This finish has to be achieved at a cost which the eventual customer is prepared to pay and which yields a profit to the tanner and the manufacturer of the leather article. Customer satisfaction is difficult to predict, given the various conditions of use to which the leather article is to be exposed. Better communications between the links in the chain will improve the chances of the finish meeting the "ideal" requirements. |
