Achieving the correct formulation is imperative, due to the high lever of commercial value attached to the formulated products market. Stability has a direct impact on consistency, performance and shelf-life, playing an integral role in the development process. Therefore, gaining insight into methods that help to improve formulation stability can be highly beneficial.
Indeed, in the UK alone, sales of formulated products amount to some £180bn/yr. This means that getting formulation 'right' is an important goal, with considerable value attached to it. Stability is a crucial attribute for many products with a direct impact on performance, shelf-life, kerb appeal and ultimately, worth. A systematic approach to understanding and developing stability can therefore, be extremely helpful in improving success in long-term stability trials and accelerating formulation.
In this article, we examine how these methods can be exploited to develop stable suspensions, looking in particular at the impact of temperature on stability in paints and coatings.Note de contenu : - The importance of stability
