Index. décimale : 667.3 Teinture et impression des tissus Résumé : Light transmission through multiple sheets of undyed cellulose triacetate fabric immersed in binary solutions of carbon disulfide and n‐heptane has been measured using ordinary absorption spectroscopy. The optical transmission of light in the visible spectral range is found to be very high at wavelengths corresponding to a match between the index of refraction of cellulose triacetate and that of the surrounding solution. This phenomenon is commonly referred to as the Christiansen colour filter effect. Indices of refraction of cellulose triacetate from 400 to 700 nm were derived from these data.
