Résumé : |
The self-stratifying coatings can be held as one of the effective smart coating which have numerous advantages over the conventional coating system. Apart from the cost effectiveness in the processing and application it also helps to improve the inter-coat boundary of the system thus preventing the failure due to the poor inter-coat adhesion. These type of coatings help in reduction of application time and paint consumption. This paper captures the work happened in past which is reviewed to get more into the details of this smart coating like the kinetics involved in the formation of self-stratifying coatings along with the type and mechanism of self- stratification. The study also touches upon the various analytical methods for the prediction of stratification and the factors responsible for effectiveness of stratification. Also, future prospects of the coatings and different application areas in various coatings field are presented. |
