Climate change can be seen in the form of flood disasters, like 2021 in Ahrtal/Germany. It is particularly noticeable in cities with increasing sealing of land. However, especially protective measures on the dikes can be taken before a flood cornes into the center of a City. A research project within the BMBF program "Forschung für die zivile Sicherheit 2012-2017" was carried out at the Chair for conveyor and material flow technology (FTM) at Chemnitz University of Technology (TUC). The project was focused on the pro¬tection of river dikes. As part of the project, innovative solutions were created on the basis of technical textiles and conveyor technology in order to increase the safety of citizens and to work on application-oriented research involving end users. |
