RhéologieIndex. décimale : 532.05 Mécanique des fluides et des liquides - Dynamique (cinétique et cinématique) Résumé : Nowadays, suspensions involving nano to micro particles are widely used in the development of composite and engineered materials. These particles allow changing both the properties and the behavior of these materials. Therefore, in order to improve the performances and fabrication of these enhanced materilas is it important to have a detailed knowledge of its real microstructure, idealized during the design phase, in order to be able to predict their macroscopic properties. In this thesis, the modeling and simulation of suspensions involving rod-like particles throughout the different scales of description - microscopic, mesoscopic and macroscopic - and the different contration regimes - dilute, semi-concentrated and concentrated -, involving richer physics is studied. Different multiscale models are proposed, based on the kinetic theory, which is a micro to macro approach that allows to introduce the finest physics at the microscale and upscale up to the macroscale without a significant loss of information. Also, numerical experiments will be carried ou in order to check and validate these models.
