PolyéthylèneIndex. décimale : 677.4 Textiles artificiels Résumé : Polyacrylonitrile-based (PAN) carbon fibers (CF) provide outsanding mechanical properties combined with a low-weight which makes CF highly interesting for the automotive industry. The high market price of CF of around 20€/kg is a limiting factor that prohibits the use of CF in the mass market. Alternatives to produce more affordable CF (5-12€/kg) have been investigated by the ITA [1,2] Note de contenu : - Fig. 1. PAN and PE-based carbon fiber process chain

Polybutylène succinateIndex. décimale : 677.4 Textiles artificiels Résumé : In view of gradually dwindling oil deposits and the growing environmental consciousness of manufacturers and consumers, polymer materials consisting of renewable resources are considered as auspicious materials for next-generation textiles. Hovvever, the costs of biopolymers currently amount to more than twice of those of commodity polymers like polyamides and polyolefins. In addition, textiles being composed of polyamides and conventional polyesters like polyethylene terephthalate (PET), with a worldwide production volume of 15 million tons and 55 million tons (2015), respectively, are dominating today's textile industry. In the European market, 100,000 tons of biodegradable polymers were used for commercial purposes in 2015, whereby packaging applications are dominant. Note de contenu : - RESEARCH PROJECT PBSTEX
