TissésIndex. décimale : 668.4 Plastiques, vinyles Résumé : Multiple process steps and inefficient material utilization are the main cost drivers in performing. Integrating local reinforcement during the textile production process is a promising approach to overcome these issues. ITA is investigating such an approach based on Open Reed Weaving technology. Note de contenu : - A modified product design process
- Application example
- Metallic inserts for load introduction
- FIGURES : 1. Modified product design process for composite parts - 2. Production of locally-reinforced woven fabrics via the ORW technology - 3. Comparison of the designed ORW preform concept with conventional preform concepts - 4. Due to their environ¬mentally friendly characteristics, low cost, light weight, and good specific mechanical properties, plant-based fibers can replace various synthetic fibers in many areas of application such as the marine, automotive, aerospace, and construction industries. In order to reduce CO2 emissions which are not only emitted by burning and burial of banana cultivation byproducts, but also by the end-of-life disposal of vehicles, Biointerio, a startup initiative at RWTH Aachen University, is working towards manufacturing valuable composite products from banana fibers for the automotive industry.
