Résumé : |
Despite evidence linking even low levels of UV radiation to visible signs of skin ageing, and consumer concerns about the impact of sun exposure on the face, daily use of facial UV protection is rather on the lower side. One reason for this is a prevailing perception that sun protection is only necessary when on the beach or in other situations when wanting to avoid sunburn. Although UV filters do indeed protect the skin from sunburn, they also deliver a wider range of skin care benefits. To increase awareness of these, DSM has conducted a review of scientific studies into the role UV filters play in five areas: prevention of photo-ageing and hyperpigmentation, protection from blue light, reduction of skin cancer risk, and support for cutaneous immune function. We present a summary of the key topics here. |
