Titre : Diamond in the rough : How to determine whether an adhesive is recycling friendly Type de document : texte imprimé Auteurs : Hermann Onusseit, Auteur Année de publication : 2001 Article en page(s) : p. 30-36 Note générale : Bibliogr. Langues : Américain (ame) Index. décimale : 668.3 Adhésifs et produits semblables Résumé : From the above information we can conclude that the question of whether an adhesive is recycling-friendly can't be answered without knowledge of its application. Adhesive film that occur in internal recycling processes are required to have good water-solubility and small influence on the COD-value. The dissolved and re-emulsified particles should not accumulate, as this can lead to secondary stickies if thermoplastic materials are concerned. These requirements are also valid for adhesives that are used for bag production of so-called "beaten bags". Most adhesives get into the paper mill with post-consumer waste. As many impurities get into the process together with the waste paper, these mills have lavish sorting systems. It is demanded from the adhesive films to be removable by mechanical screening as early as possible. Note de contenu : - The paper industry

Recyclage (déchets, etc.)Index. décimale : 667.9 Revêtements et enduits Résumé : The author explains how adhesives formulated using a good choice of raw materials can ensure that packaging is easily sortable so that it can be recycled.
Packaging recycling has been carried out successfully for decades. To execute the idea of recycling it is necessary to think about a material recycling of theused packaging when designing them.
This means that all additives of the process have to be designed in the way they do not disturb the later material recycling. This is of special importance for adhesives, because they play a decisive role in the production of almost all packaging today.
Even though adhesives due to their small quantity will not be recycled alone, it must be considered that they should not disturb the recyling of the primary materials
Adhesives that consist or organic polymers are normally trouble-free in recycling processes that take place at high temperatures e.g., metal or glass packaging recycling, but the choice of adhesive for plastic and paper packaging is important. The variety of different recycling processes for primary materials influences adhesive technology development. For many recycling processes there are optimised adhesive systems. In recent years many adhesives have been developed, which fulfil the demands of the recycling of plastic packaging.Note de contenu : - Plastic recycling

This applies to both the processing of food and to its transport and warehousing. These materials and articles must not influence the food they contact, neither toxicologically they should not cause a health threat for the end-user, nor may they change the composition of the food or its properties like smell, taste and appearance. Today, there is no industry that does not try to manufacture high-quality products as environmentally and as sustainably as possible - and at a low cost. In many cases there are totally new products and systems on the market, which are only possible by using adhesives for bonding. Note de contenu : - Sustainably bonded
