Résumé : |
Epoxies have already been used for impregnation and coating of concrete parts since more than 40 years. To those of us who coat concrete floors, it is a well-known fact that blisters sometimes develop weeks or months after the coating has been successfully applied. The problem is most prevalent with coatings applied to on-grade concrete floor slabs, although it also can occur on elevated floor slabs. Coatings on concrete walls seldom fait by blistering, perhaps because of differences related to construction: walls are poured and cured in forms ; floor slabs are cast in place and exposed to the atmosphere during cure. Excessive water in concrete affects many Norming materials and leading to their early failure. In many cases the floorings are badly blistered, each blister containing an aqueous solution under compression.
There are many ways blisters are formed. The ideas presented in this article pertain principally, if not exclusively, to horizontal concrete slabs cured open to the air. The paper evaluates and discusses the findings on the site and in the laboratory, and tries to determine the causes of the blistering, and the ways to avoid it. |
