Résumé : |
The environmental, social and governance (ESG) aspects are the key focus areas of sustainability initiatives in any modem business. Often referred to as people, profit and planet, it is said that a modem business cannot survive without due consideration of the triple bottom line.
Subtle attention was always given to these key areas in businesses of the last century, with some arguing that businesses have always done their diligence in ESG areas since commerce was bom — albeit in an unstructured way and without consideration of all areas.
The modem business must be seen to be actively working in all ESG areas to show the consumer that they have done their due diligence and that the products and services they are buying corne from a business that is responsibly executed. The principles of good ESG can be taken from a cultural intuitive experience that already exists in a business and with some minor adjustments to get systematised.
This article will not look at the often covered social and environmental functions that a business does, but will focus on the govemance structures- systems administrative, quality control, financial and management parts. The governance focuses on how to get the profit part of the equation. The profit can be achieved through legitimate, respectable means or through illegitimate or nefarious means. Modem businesses are expected to do so through the first. |
