Résumé : |
Polyester fiber is one of the most commonly used fibers in technical as well as apparel application areas and contributes a greaterthan 75% share in global syntheticfiber manufacture. Recycled polyethylene terephthalate (rPET) is the most extensively recycled plastic in the world. Nearly 72% of the materials produced by recycling PET bottle waste are in the form of polyester fiber. According to the Polyethylene Terephthalate Resin Association (PETRA), New York, NY/USA, the European Union (EU) recycling rate is about 52%, whereas it is 30% in the USA. Melt spinning technology is used to produce recycled polyester fibers from post-consumer PET bottles. To minimize the environmental related issues, various researchers have explored the potential use of recycled polyester fibers in developing various textile products. The following discusses the technical applications of recycled polyester fibers. |
