Cement is a fine gray or white powder that is mixed with water and other substances to make mortar or concrete. It is a key building material in both residential and commercial construction work.
With materials, consistency, and density constant, the strength of concrete increases with the proportion of cement in the mix. For mixes of normal consistencies, the compressive strength, the tensile strength, and the modulus of rupture increases with the number of bags per cubic yard of concrete. The use of higher strength cement tends to move the curves higher. Concrete made with high early strength cement has relatively high strength at ages up to three months, but after that its strength is slightly lower than that of concrete made with normal cement. |
