Capturing hidden value / Richard Jones in ADHESIVES & SEALANTS INDUSTRY (ASI), Vol. 19, N° 3 (03/2012)

Titre : Capturing hidden value : Internatl complexity issues can have an adverse impact on a company's profitability if they are not properly addressed Type de document : texte imprimé Auteurs : Richard Jones, Auteur Année de publication : 2012 Article en page(s) : p. 14-15 Langues : Américain (ame) Catégories : Planification stratégique Index. décimale : 658.401 Elaboration de la politique de l'entreprise Résumé : It is not surprising that today’s business environment continues to become increasingly complex. Global economic interconnectivity, fast-paced communications and highly competitive pressures are only a few of the factors that companies deal with on a daily basis. It is well established that companies with a succinct strategic plan are best prepared to deal with-and ideally prosper from-this external complexity.
What is not typically evident, though, is the internal complexity that almost always arises in response and that then translates into inefficient and ineffective business processes. Unfortunately, it is here where companies are often ill-prepared (if not unprepared) to deal with hidden costs and the resultant drain on the company’s bottom line.Note de contenu : - Sales and pricing

Revêtements:PeintureIndex. décimale : 667.9 Revêtements et enduits Résumé : Polyurethanes are extremely versatile, but for health and safety reasons material with the lowest possible free isocyanate content are desirable. Some esstablished methods of achieving this are outlined. It is also possible to form the urethane group via an amine-cyclic carbonate reaction. Some novel modified products of this type appear to have commercial potential. Titre : A second crosslinking strategy Titre original : Hybrid blocked isocyanates combine different chemistries leading to enhanced properties Type de document : texte imprimé Auteurs : Richard Jones, Auteur Année de publication : 2001 Article en page(s) : p. 48-53 Note générale : Bibliogr. Langues : Anglais (eng) Index. décimale : 667.9 Revêtements et enduits Résumé : The development of blocked isocyanates for thermally cured 1k polyurethane coatings strives to reduce the curing temperature, but simultaneously a good storage stability at room temperature must be kept. Hybrid blocked isocyanates combine chemically different blocking agents, thus avoiding some disadvantages of single systems, while maintaining the coatings performance. Note de contenu : - Two different unblocking reaction mechanisms
- DEM blocked isocyanate solidifies
- Combinations of blocking agents to enhance stability
- Optimal OH : NCO stoichiometry is greater than 1.0 : 1.0
- Hybrid blocked isocyanates show a different molecular weight distribution
- Crosslinked structure for DEM/DMP hybrids differs chemically
- Cost effective formulations
- Comparison with conventional blocking agents
- Artificial weathering performance : Hybrids perform well
- Yellowing on overbake : Poor MEKO performance
- Acid Etch Resistance : Hybrids similar to MEKO
- Small amounts of DEM increase overcoat adhesion drasticallyEn ligne : https://drive.google.com/file/d/1E_Lq-ljZoyNCIdJtYxeK3sNk5BgwYbAp/view?usp=drive [...] Format de la ressource électronique : Permalink : https://e-campus.itech.fr/pmb/opac_css/index.php?lvl=notice_display&id=10942

Titre : Water dispersible blocked polyisocyanate for coating applications Type de document : texte imprimé Auteurs : Ian Rimmer, Auteur ; Keith Pennington, Auteur ; Richard Jones, Auteur Année de publication : 1998 Article en page(s) : p. 722-727 Note générale : Bibliogr. Langues : Anglais (eng) Index. décimale : 667.9 Revêtements et enduits Résumé : This paper describes the use of novel water-dispersible blocked polyisocyanate cross-linkers utilising 3,5-dimethylpyrazole (DMP) as the blocking agent. When formulated with acrylic emulsions containing isocyanate reactive hydroxyl groups, these will produce one component, heat curable coatings with final properties comparable to solvent-based systems. The DMP blocked polyisocyanates will cure at temperatures as low as 120 to 130°C when stoved for 30 min using standard urethane catalysts or 10 min using a novel catalyst. Coatings formulated from these cross-linkers also show potential for OEM automotive clearcoats, general industrial metals and temperature sensitive substrates, such as plastics.
