Langues : Américain (ame) Index. décimale : 675 Technologie du cuir et de la fourrure Résumé : This work focuses on the influence of cross-linking with higher-molecular glycol diepoxides (and glycerol triglycidyleter) on biologic anaerobic degradation of protein hydrolysate (trade name hykol) produced from chrome-tanned wastes (shavings). Samples of hykol cross-linked with selected higher-molecular diepoxides were degraded with anaerobic sludge from a municipal plant at concentrations, in which organic carbon in samples in test bottles was approx. 200 mg/L, dry matter (inoculum) was 4.5g/L, temperature 35+. Biodegradation of tested modified hydrolysate samples produced recorded quantities of biogas (CH4, CO2). Anaerobic degradation rate of the samples was least reduced when polyethylene glycol (600) diglycidyl ether was employed as the cross-linking agent, and most reduced when glycerol triglycidyl ether was applied. Attention was also given to preparation, the determination of solubility, intrinsi viscosity and IR spectra of prepared samples. In comparison with hykol the degree of degradation decreased approx. from 70-50 %. These modified hydrolysates were studied as materials which have the potential to be used as good biodegradable films, e.g. for agricultural applications. Langues : Américain (ame) Index. décimale : 675 Technologie du cuir et de la fourrure Résumé : The use of hydrolysate from chrome-tanned wastes for producing biodegradable plastics particularly applicable in agriculture requires management of the breakdown of modified compounds of synthetic polymers. In this work, the additive applied for this purpose was protein hydrolysate produced by enzymatic hydrolysis of chrome-tanned shavings. It was used for modifying polyvinyl alcohol which had been processed into water-soluble films often employed in agriculture. This material, after being deposited in soil, undergoes biological degradation (first of all anaerobic) which is supported to a large extent by the addition of protein hydrolysate in particular. For this reason, anaerobic biodegrability tests were performed (volumetric test determining methanogenic activity) and the corresponding percentage of degradation was determined based on a balance of produced biogas and inorganic carbon in the aqueous phase. Polyvinyl alcohol is relatively poorly degradable under aerobic conditions while protein hydrolysate, on the contrary, undergoes biodegradation at a fairly fast rate. From a comparison between the attained degradation degree of blow-extruded film and that of mechanically prepared compounds it follows that the limiting factor of degradability, apart from added protein hydrolysate, is also a chemical reaction between polyvinyl alcohol and hydrolysate taking place during the heat processing of film. It was confirmed that protein hydrolysate from chrome shavings markedly increases biodegradation of material (depending on its content in the plastic matrix), reduces the final cost of product and, last but not least, to some extent also exerts a positive influence on mechanical properties of the film. The first part primarily mentions works concerning this biornass itself (composition. activity, sorption properties and others). The second then summarises results obtained when evaluating processes under way during the removal of specific substrates produced by tanning manufacture (e.g. proteins, tanning agents). The results can serve to choose alternatives capable of use in disposing of the significant pollution that tanning emits into the environment. Langues : Américain (ame) Index. décimale : 675 Technologie du cuir et de la fourrure Résumé : This work summarizes the influence exerted on cross-linking of protein hydrolyzate obtained through enzymatic hydrolysis of chrome-tanned leather shavings, by means of diepoxides (1,2:3,4 diepoxybutane and 1,2:7,8 diepoxyoctane). Attention was given to preparation of cross-linked samples, their solubility, intrinsic viscosity and IR spectra. Suitable conditions for cross-linking were found at pH = 9 and 25˚ C temperature. Solubility of samples decreased proportionately with increasing concentrations of cross-linking agent. Viscosity measurements yielded best results in 1M KCl solution. Determining intrinsic viscosity indices proved this value was influenced more by the approach of the gelation point than by the epoxide content. IR spectra demonstrated that in the region of wave numbers 838, 912 and 1,250 cm-1, peaks of epoxide groups of employed pure cross-linking agents coincide with similar peaks of other groups of cross-linked samples; peaks of epoxide bonds at the mentioned wave numbers are discernible only with highest employed concentrations of cross-linking agents. Future research will address examining various epoxy groups, employing di- or multifunctional amines and determining critical gelation conversions and critical stoichiometric ratios of defined substances. Langues : Américain (ame) Index. décimale : 675 Technologie du cuir et de la fourrure Résumé : Waste from the manufacture of chrome-tanned leathers (so-called shavings) can be processed (apart from alkaline or acid breakdown) by enzymatic hydrolysis employing alkaline proteases. Under mild reaction conditions, a soluble collagen hydrolyzate is formed and a solid fraction (so-called chrome cake) with high chromium content is formed after filtration. Further use of the chrome cake, e.g., tanning bath recycling, necessitates a maximum possible reduction in the protein fraction. This work performed deproteination of the chrome cake by decantation washing with water and enzymatic hydrolysis. Decantation washing of the chrome cake obtained after two-stage enzymatic hydrolysis of chrome-tanned shavings was performed six times with drinking water at laboratory temperature. A reduction in protein content occurs, as was proved by chemical analysis of chrome cakes prior to and after washing. Further deproteination of the chrome cake so washed (hence disposed of soluble part) was executed by means of additional enzymatic hydrolysis with ESPERASE and TRYPSIN. It was proved that further deproteination of chrome cake proceeded from this treatment even under very low concentrations of enzymes.
