Langues : Anglais (eng) Index. décimale : 668.9 Polymères Résumé : Electret-thermal analysis (ETA) was used to study polymer blends and processes of their compatibilization. Potentialities of ETA method have been visualized by the analysis of thermally stimulated current (TSC) spectra of the polyamide-polyethylene blends with a maleic anhydride functionalized styrene-(ethylene-co-butylene)-styrene block copolymer as compatibilizers. Peaks on TSC spectra of blend composites are identified with the composition and distribution of the components in the blend. Based on the physical method of analysis it has been proved that the charge state and structure of the blends strongly depend upon compatibilizer content and the degree of the melt mixing. It was confirmed previous conclusion that in a studied case compounding does not result in the formation of any new chemical compounds. ETA in combination with traditional physical methods appeared to yield trustworthy estimates of components distribution in the blend, the degree of their chemical interaction and on this base to preliminary forecast mechanical properties of blends. PolyéthylèneIndex. décimale : 668.9 Polymères Résumé : Intensive development of packing industry in response to the needs of modern society has aggravated the global situation with recovery of polymer wastes. One of the trends that may alleviate this problem is manufacture of ecologically friendly biodegradable polymeric films. Such films undergo accelerated destruction after burial under the action of soil microorganisms. The factor that speeds up biodestruction of the films in soil is the electric field of their own. The available experimental data have proved that the kinetics of biodestruction of polyethylene films, including starch-filled and inorganic saltfilled ones, alters significantly after such film transfer to electret state. Polyéthylène téréphtalateIndex. décimale : 668.9 Polymères Résumé : This paper deals with the study of poly(ethylene terephthalate) (PET) fiber modification by antimicrobial substances following the crazing mechanism. The highest mean number of crazes and their maximal degree of opening in PET fibers subjected to tension in surface-active bactericidal liquids are reached when the plastic flow of PET begins and necks appear on the fibers. Further straining of the fibers results in a gradual transformation of the material into a fibrillar structure of strands that close the crazes. It is established that the amount of the bactericidal liquid captured by the crazes is 0.9 to 3.3 wt.% of the PET material and that the liquid localizes predominantly in the polymer amorphous phase. PET fibers treated by the developed liquids using the procedure developed preserve their antimicrobial properties after 10 to 50 cycles of heat-wet treatment.
