This book provides a comprehensive and sound introduction to all aspects of the ion exchange process, including a description of all currently available type of ion exchange materials - the first such description to appear in a general text. The early chapters of the book, in describing the basic theories of the subject based on essentially up-to-date concepts, provide an adequate background for the later chapters, such as that on chromatography. On of the ways in which the book is unique is the dual treatment of kinetics and diffusion by both classical and irreversible thermodynamics. An introduction to ion exchange will be of particular use to students concerned in all branches of analytical, medical and physical chemistry, and will provide valuable supplementary reading from sixth form to postgraduate levels. |
