The Technological Centre for the Textile and Clothing Industries of Portugal (CITEVE) has been working in the field of technical and functional textiles for long. CITEVE participated in the Wetgrass project which aimed at the development of a new synthetic turf system for football pitches that avoids turf overheating on hot sunny days and reduce skin abrasive effects from player's sliding movements. The main goal is to improve player's comfort and safety without compromising sport performance and normal ball behavior. This project was co-funded by the National Innovation Agency (ANI) and engaged 2 Portuguese Companies : Safina (Portuguese synthetic turf manufacturing and branding company), Exporplás (Portuguese monofilaments producer and branding company) and 2 STC entities, CeNTI and CITEVE as project coordinators. |
