Résumé : |
Carbon fibers almost entirely consist of pure carbon and are obtained in a very energy-intensive process from the polymer polyacrylonitrile at 1,300 °C. Carbon fi bers are low density, but at the same time extremely break-proof and stable. Such properties are required e.g. at the battery box of electric vehicles or in structural components of the car body. The Saxon Textile Research Institute (STFI), Chemnitz/Germany, is currently working with industrial partners to combine static-mechanical strength of carbon fibers with vibration damping properties in order to improve the housing of electric vehicle motors. In this research project funded by the Federal Ministry for Economic Affairs and Energy, the development of so-called hybrid nonwovens is considered, which contain other fiber materials as reinforcement in addition to carbon fibers. |
