Résumé : |
The topic of traceability has been covered quite extensively in the tanning industry, with ILM and theSauerReport leading the front of information. The industry and its partners are also moving rapidly at pace. The end users of leather add increasing amounts of pressure onto the supply chain to corne up with solutions to their increasing amount of risk. Consumers demand more traceability and transparency, with suppliers of services rapidly formulating ways in which this can be done.
Like in other industries, the way in which the traceability systems are rolled out are generally going to be led by commercial partners who put the systems in place. The commercial partners will need two things, depending on their business ethics: For dubious businesses, theywill need regulation and control, but for most honourable traceability service providers, theywill need standards that can improve over time. The development of standards should ideally come before several solutions are in place to avoid disappointment of the businesses that are early adopters.
Figure 1 shows the current situation in the clothing and footwear supply chain. The situation in the automotive supply chain may be equally as challenging since, while there is certainly more traceability in their supply chain, there are also more tiers where informational losses can take place. |
