Résumé : |
In order to test composites, welds or adhesive joints for defects, non-destructive testing using ultrasound has been established in companies. The Austrian company Xarion has now developed a new type of optical microphone with which the measuring process can be carried out without contact. This significantly reduces the amount of testing required. |
Note de contenu : |
- No loss of the test signal
- Inline and in-process monitoring possible
- No influence of measurement results by natural oscillation
- Testing of composites, adhesive bonds and spot welds
- Fig. 1 : The optical microphone Eta250 Ultra — a complete system consists of the signal processing unit, sensor head and optical fiber
- Fig. 2 : Sound measurement recorded with the optical microphone — valuable process signais are in high frequency ranges
- Fig. 3 : The compact sensor head of the optical microphone
- Fig. 4 : Usage of the optical microphone for tool condition monitoring : Acoustic fingerprint of an intact drill and a broken drill ; a clear distinction is possible only in high frequencies
- Fig. 5 : A composite material used in aircraft construction (right) and the ultrasound test image scanned with the optical microphone (left). Defects inside the material become visible. |
