Textiles et tissus à usages techniquesIndex. décimale : 667.9 Revêtements et enduits Résumé : Conductive yarns and coatings are necessary for a broad variety of smart textile applications, such as sensors, data transmission lines, or heated fabrics. The main problems of such conductive textile elements are abrasion and washing resistance. Since different findings with respect to these properties are reported in the literature for similar coatings, the required optimization is impeded. In a recent study, the washing resistance of different graphite–polyurethane coatings with graphite contents between 25% and 33% on cotton, linen, viscose, and polyester woven fabrics was compared, using two different graphite particle sizes on diverse textile substrates. It was found that not only the graphite particle dimensions and graphite concentration strongly influence the longevity of the coatings, but also the textile substrates which were coated with the conductive mass. This means that conductive coatings cannot be optimized without knowledge of the planned application. For each arithmetic operation, data has to be transported back and forth between these two locations, which costs time and is referred to as the von Neumann bottleneck. In many cases, a bio-inspired architecture would be more efficient that is more like the human brain, where data is processed, stored, and transported within closely spaced small regions and between these areas. In a current project, funded by the Volkswagen Foundation under the funding line "Experiment !", a completely new approach is followed to create hardware for this so-called neuromorphic computing. While other research groups primarily use magnetic tunneling elements and similar modem devices to develop novel bioinspired computer structures, this project is based on a textile technology electrospinning.

In the area of smart textiles, they can be used to protect small electronic devices separating from textile substrates, e.g. caused by critical mechanical loading or by washing. This article deals with the role of gluing as a strain relief for the soldering points of SMD components. Different glued connections are investigated using separating force tests as well as Martindale tests. Note de contenu : - Fabric glues

TissageIndex. décimale : 677.4 Textiles artificiels Résumé : Optical fibers can be integrated in textile fabrics, e.g. in order to illuminate technical textiles or garments. Such luminous accents can be used as design elements in clothing, but also to enhance traffic safety or in home textiles as emergency lighting. Since optical fibers must not be overbent before they lose their function and finally break, they can most easily be integrated in woven or similar textile fabrics where they keep a relatively even form. The article thus examines the influence of the weaving process on different optical fibers as well as the effect of the resulting damage on the transmission through the optical fiber.
