In comparaison to other leather processing equipment, the lime spilling machine requires the greatest amount of operator skill and experience. However, technological advancements in CAD software, machine tools, and manufacturing processes have precipitated improvements in section roller design and construction. V. Mance Manufacturing (VMM) has developed a new continuous "self cleasing" ring roller assembly that facilitates transport of wet and greasy pelts through the splitting machine "pressure zone". The Pro-Split ring roller assembly mnimises lime splitting problems attributable to section roller design, construction and maintenance. This article explains the advent of the ring roller assembly in leather splitting equipment and describes in detail the evolution of section roller design and construction. |
