Résumé : |
The coatings of vehicle components must be measured to the micrometre to avoid damage and complaints. Automobile parts supplier AAM has in the past used traditional methods based on microscopy and magnetic induction. But these methods have weaknesses. With suport from Lord, the manufacturer of the rubber-to-metal adhesives Chemosil and Chemlok, AAM has switched the coating thickness measurement to the coatmaster technology - with success. |
Note de contenu : |
- Process optimization thanks to noncontact coating thickness measurement
- No more rejects
- Better than magnetic-inductive methods
- Production with a closed control loop
- Inclusion of the procedure in the official standards is imminent
- Fig. 1 : Rough surfaces of the adhesive layer lead to high scattering on contact measurement
- Fig. 2 : At AAM Lyon every produced torsional vibration damper is measured with the coatmaster. The layer thickness and other production parameters are lasered as a QR code
- Fig. 3 : The microscoic cross-section image of a two-layer adhesive coating shows that the local layer thickness measurement is subject to a high fluctuation |
