Résumé : |
Increasing global energy crisis of petroleum resources has shifted focus of chemical industries to look for alternative raw material resources. The main focus of raw materials in polyurethane system, such as polyol i.e. based on petroleum and natural gas, would be gradually replaced by those from renewable sources. Starch is a relatively inexpensive and renewable product from abundant plants natural sources like starch is used during manufacturing of polyurethane (PU) foam extensively from the last decades and replaced petrochemical based PU foam due to their lower environmental few impact, easy availability, lower cost and biodegradability. Starch which is an abundant but underutilized component of cellulosic biomaterials constitutes a rich source of polyol and being considered for the production of bio-degradable PU foam. Lignin was mainly used for production of degradable polyurethane foams, followed by elastomers as well as wood adhesives. For this review paper we will focus on the progress of research in starch based polyurethane materials for foam application. |
