Langues : Américain (ame) Index. décimale : 675 Technologie du cuir et de la fourrure Résumé : Pickard and Anderson(P&A) of Auburn,New York, successfully sought and obtained permits for the Beneficial Use of Vegetable Tannery Biosolids for two different Pennsylvania tanneries,Gunnison Brothers,Inc. and Wickett and Craig of America.These permits were obtained through the Pennsylvania Department of Envirionmental Resources Bureau of Waste Management(DER-BWM).Presently, the biosolids are being used as a soil supplement in the reclamation of coal strip mined lands in central and north-central Pennsylvania.
During the initial phase of projects,each company was able to reduce its total volume of waste disposed by greater than 50 percent,cutting waste disposal costs by a significant amount.Additional research is planned to determine if other portions of each company's waste can be removed from the waste streams and incoporated into soil supplements.Future research is planned for packaging the biosolids as soil supplements for sale to consumers.Permalink : https://e-campus.itech.fr/pmb/opac_css/index.php?lvl=notice_display&id=8285

Substances dangereuses -- EliminationIndex. décimale : 675 Technologie du cuir et de la fourrure Résumé : To effectively remove toxic benzidine pollutants from tannery dyeing wastewater, a new method for chlorine dioxide oxidation was developed in a simulated wastewater treatment. In the experiment, the oxidative degradation behaviour towards chlorine dioxide of four toxic pollutants including benzidine, o-tolidine, 3.3′-dimethoxylbenzidine and 3.3′-dichlorobenzidine were studied by detecting the concentrations of benzidines at regular intervals with HPLC. The effects of the reactant molar ratio, pH and time of reaction on the removals of CODCr and benzidines are discussed. The optimal reaction conditions are presented. The results show that oxidation with chlorine dioxide is feasible and efficient for benzidines degradation. The removals of CODCr reached 65%, and the degradations of benzidines were over 90%. Azobenzene, hydrazobenzene and benzoquinone were detected by IR and GC/MS as intermediates. A reaction mechanism for the oxidation of benzidine with chlorine dioxide in water has been proposed.
Son objectif est de produire des biens et services tout en limitant fortement la consommation et le gaspillage des matières premières, et des sources d'énergies non renouvelables ;
However, the standard production model has been questioned in terms of environmental aspects. Through a systematic review of the literature, this paper proposed a framework of environmental best practices and circular economy initiatives, based on the evaluations of academic authors and specialists from companies in the sector. Four dimensions were considered as criteria for evaluating environmental practices: reliability, applicability, adherence and effectiveness. The results indicate a high level of agreement on best practices, confirming the potential for generating environmental benefits, with specialists attributing values of agreements higher than those presented by the authors of scientific articles. This supports the view that more sustainable production initiatives are viable, preserving the socio-economic importance of the sector without harming the environment. The implications of this work cover the theories and practices addressed through the consultation with the two targeted participant groups. The commonality of processes and chemical use across countries can also be seen as a critical factor for advancing the frontiers of knowledge and implementing more sustainable production processes. TannageIndex. décimale : 675 Technologie du cuir et de la fourrure Résumé : Unhairing and liming are the most polluting operations of the leather tanning process. Over the years, this sector has been investigated increasingly. Hence, this paper aims to explore and analyze the scientific activity of this field of research with a new view, applying bibliometrics techniques. The method of the study is based on a search and collection of publications indexed in Scopus. Subsequently, bibliometric data were extracted from the corresponding publications. Graphics and bibliometric maps were made to obtain quantitative results and the relationships between countries, authors, journals, and keywords. The results show an upward trend over the last 100 years or so, where the topic of most of the publications has reversed from being purely about engineering and process to focus on the big environmental issue generated by traditional unhairing. At the same time, research in this field has shifted to countries with the biggest tanning industry, such as China and India. In conclusion, bibliometrics has been a good method to know the current state of scientific literature and the timeline of this field of research, which will allow for a deepening in alternative methods to traditional unhairing and advance of the environmental concern caused by these polluting operations.
