It has not previously been possible to recognize hides that may produce loose leather. Hides were processed through to leather with samples retained at the pickle, wet blue and crust leather stages with material that resulted in loose leather compared with that resulting in tight leather, using ultrasonic imaging. The loose precursor is characterized by a lower density of material in the mid grain layer. The looseness is quantified by amplitude differences in ultrasound line scans or cross-sectional area scans between loose leather and tight leather with 2-4 times the amount of low intensity area in loose leather at all three process stages. This enables detection of hides that will result in loose leather and may enable unsuitable hides to be diverted to other process streams to save substantial processing costs.

Tannage végétalIndex. décimale : 675 Technologie du cuir et de la fourrure Résumé : On the finishing Bide in-house GST/Seton tannery we were facing other challenges.
Using only natural binders is limiting the wear properties. We were looking for a sensitive mix of natural binders together with high tech PUs and Acrylics to get the best performances in using as little finish as possible and having as little coverage as possible. The amount applied is about hall of today's automotive semi-aniline.
The result of this development is a smooth yet firm leather article, which has a rich and round body. Natural characteristics such as growth marks or neck wrinkles are a part of this article and get blended in with the finish we use.
Due to very compact lead-in processes and run Urne optimised recipes in production for ECO¬Line leathers, we were able to achieve a further reduction on "high/brand marks" like water and electricity consumption on these leathers.
Corinova, with its characteristics, reminds us of the classic vegetable-tanned ultra luxury vachette leathers that are used for leather goods. Each hide is unique, which is a sign of authenticity and supports the idea of individualisation. The leathers can currently be produced in black and dark brown shades.
In the development of GST/Seton — Corinova, we have created a superior eco-friendly product. The environment matters and leather can be one of the first consumer choices if produced in an eco-friendly manner.En ligne : https://drive.google.com/file/d/1ZyRGpO2JsDpVpEktYqlFPDJZN64ZIQvJ/view?usp=drive [...] Format de la ressource électronique : Permalink : https://e-campus.itech.fr/pmb/opac_css/index.php?lvl=notice_display&id=20448

Langues : Américain (ame) Index. décimale : 675 Technologie du cuir et de la fourrure Résumé : In search for an eco-friendly enzymatic option for the unhairing process, a strain belonging to Bacillus spp. has been isolated and evaluated for its efficacy. In the laboratory scale experiments conducted, the activity and the performance of the enzyme satisfied the conditions necessary for its application in unhairing. The comparison of the microscopical structures of the enzyme treated and lime-sulphide treated pelts have been studied and these results along with the physical testing data for the strength properties of the leather are presented in this paper. These results indicate that the enzyme has good potential to be exploited as an environmentally friendly option in unhairing as the bend is more towards cleaner technologies presently.
