Does this also mean problems for high-performance adhesives in the assembly shop ? To answer this question, we need to examine the adhesion phenomena at the adhesive/clearcoat interface. The following report presents the foundations for targeted adhesive development. Furthermore, it discusses the critical points for adhesive bonding on future paint generations and suggests potential solutions. Note de contenu : - PAINT AS A SUBSTRATE
- ADHESION AS A PARADOX : a) The process window - b) Coating processes and basecoats
- RISK ASSESSMENT INDEPENDENT OF THE COLOUR
- ADHESIVE CONCEPTS FOR ADHESIVE BONDING ON TOPCOAT
- FIGURES : 1. Comparison between conventional two-component clearcoat and a more scratch-resistant version - 2. Overview of the peel test results on clearcoat with different basecoats (comparison between integrated and conventional coating process) - 3. Clearcoat structure-property relationships - 4. Surface-near OH/NHx content (measured using XPS) and the adhesion analysis of the respective sample : overbake conditions lead to less surface functionality and reduced adhesion - 5. GC-MS chromatograms of the basecoat binder IP-BC and CP-BC - 6.
