A new system for waterborne 2K epoxies has been developed that presents a measurable value proposition. The central piece of the new Easy Cure System is the amine hardener Beckocure EH 2260/41WA, which is combined with either Beckopox EP 2384w/57WA or Beckopox 387w/52WA to meet different requirements in terms of hardness, flexibility or speed of curing. Performance testing results are presented that demonstrate the key features of coatings prepared with the new amine hardener and two different epoxy dispersions. Beckocure EH 2260w/41WA is ultra-low-VOC and contains no free amines (no need for hazard labelling). It is compatible with many pigments and fillers, is shear stable and has good water dilutability.
Importantly, 2K waterborne epoxy coatings formulated with 'Easy Cure adhere well aven to difficult and oily substrates, are fast drying for early recoatability and aven wet-on-wet application is possible. They can also be applied with high film builds and offer excellent corrosion protection. Furthermore, because the coatings have an extremely smooth finish, no sanding is required. These attractive properties make coatings formulated with die new hardener suitable for numerous end-uses in the industrial, railway, agriculture and construction equipment, and military sectors and offer the potential to significantly increase the end usera profitability. |
