Tannage Résumé : The global demand for renewable and affordable feedstocks, combined with the worldwide targets for reducing carbon emissions, is the driving force behind a breakthrough in resource revolution and GreenTech innovations [1]. Owing to the vast reserves and short growing cycle, utilizing lignocellulosic biomass as an alternative to petroleum and environmentally friendly feedstock to furnish bioenergy and biomaterials is key to building a more sustainable future. Lignocellulose mainly contains three biopolymers, i.e., cellulose, hemicellulose and lignin. Over the centuries, utilization of lignocellulose has crossed its possible molecular scale ranging from 101 m, as the original matrix, to 10−10 m, as a monomeric molecule. Apart from directly using raw lignocellulose beyond the micron-grade scale (e.g., building and furnishing materials), depolymerization and structural modification can endow lignocellulose-derived molecules with smaller molecular dimensions and distinct functional groups, which can be further converted into a broad spectrum of chemicals with diverse industrial applications [2]. However, the selective production of a particular chemical or group of chemicals is very challenging due to the complex original structure of lignocellulosic biomass. Instead, mixed reaction products are produced, requiring complex and costly separation procedures to obtain specific fine chemicals with high purity. In comparison, detaining the biomass depolymerization/fractionation process at the early reaction stages offers new cost-effective opportunities. Notably, utilizing the mixed oligomers with widely distributed molecular sizes produced during partial biomass depolymerization eliminates the separation/purification stages and can be considered one of the most promising opportunities for lignocellulose biorefining at the industrial level. Herein, we discuss the recent applications of oligosaccharide derivatives from lignocellulosic biomass as a mixture for green leather tanning. Tannage au chromeIndex. décimale : 675.2 Préparation du cuir naturel. Tannage Résumé : Chrome tanning is essential for conventional processing of dyed sheep fur as it can provide fur with high hydrothermal stability suitable for dyeing of wool at a temperature around 70°C. However, a long float length and a big offer of chrome tanning agent (16 g/L) are required for the tanning process, which lead to poor uptake of chrome and excessive discharge of chrome in wastewater. In this study, reduction of chrome offer in dyed sheep fur production was investigated to develop a cleaner tanning technology. It was found that the even distribution of chrome and satisfactory dispersion of fur collagen matrix were achieved even though chrome tanning agent offer was reduced to 2 g/L and 4 g/L. But the shrinkage temperature of the furs was only 79°C and 85°C, respectively, which resulted in a sharp area shrink of fur in following high temperature dyeing. In the combination tannage using 10 g/L amphoteric organic tanning agent (TWT) and 2 g/L or 4 g/L chrome tanning agent, the shrinkage temperature of fur was higher than 90°C accompanied by a higher utilization of chrome. These combination tanned furs were capable of enduring dyeing process at 68°C for 8 h, and presented a high uptake of post tanning chemicals because they had an isoelectric point close to that of chrome tanned fur. More importantly, the physical properties of the combination tanned dyed furs were comparable to the dyed fur made by conventional chrome tanning using 16 g/L chrome tanning agent. Sulfurique, AcideIndex. décimale : 675.2 Préparation du cuir naturel. Tannage Résumé : Dechroming is essential for utilization of chromium-containing leather wastes. Strong hydrolysis conditions favour breaking of the Cr and collagen linkage, but lead to a high degree of hydrolysis of the collagen se that the separation of chromium from the gelatinous hydrolysates becomes difficult. In this research, a mild acid-alkali alternate treatment of the waste with hydrolysis assistants was investigated, so as to develop a technology that has high dechroming level and low hydrolysis degree of collagen. A satisfactory dechroming method with four steps was finally obtained and the reaction conditions for each step were optimized as follows. Step 1 — waste in the solution with 2g1L NaOH and 40g/L urea {hydrolysis assistant) was stirred for 0.5 hours at 40°C. Step 2 — waste in 50g/L sulfuric acid solution was stirred for 1 heur at 40°C. Step 3 — waste in 40 g/L Cap% suspension was stirred for 2 hour at 30°C. Step 4 — waste in 50g/L suffuric acid solution was stirred for 1 hour at 30°C. With this method, total extent of the dechroming of the waste was higher Chan 97% while the hydrolysis degree of collagen was lower than 10%. RetannageIndex. décimale : 675 Technologie du cuir et de la fourrure Résumé : Formaldehyde is widely used in the synthesis of various leather chemicals due to its high reactivity and low cost. It is probably introduced into leather when applying the chemicals to processing, and then released during storage and use of leather, which may pose a potential risk to human health. Existing method for determining formaldehyde in leather is helpless to deal with the complicated chemicals. In this study, a method was optimized for determination of free formaldehyde in leather chemicals based on ISO 27587. A 0.5-2.0 g sample of leather chemical (formaldehyde could range from 1.25 to 1250 mg/kg) was heated at 90°C in nitrogen atmosphere. The released formaldehyde was purged at a flow rate of 300 mL/min for 30 min, captured and derivatized using a bubble absorption tube containing 2,4-dinitrophenylhydrazine absorption solution, and then detected by HPLC-diode array detector. The recovery rate of formaldehyde standard solution was 91.0% with relative standard deviation (RSD) of 4.87% in seven times repeated trials. The repeated determinations of aldehyde tanning agents showed the formaldehyde recoveries higher than 90% and RSD lower than 7%, indicating the accuracy and precision of the method. Powdery amino resins were determined to contain a tiny amount of free formaldehyde using this method. However, it should be noted that hydrolyzed formaldehyde will be formed when the amino resins were dissolved in water and used in retanning, leading to the potential for bringing leather with high content of formaldehyde.
(Wikipedia)

The enzymolysis conditions were optimised via a single-factor experiment and response surface methodology (RSM) using the FRSA as the optimisation index. The optimal enzymolysis conditions were as follows: the optimal enzyme was alkaline protease, the enzymolysis pH was 8.7, the dosage of alkaline protease was 8000U/g, the temperature was 50°C, the time was 5 hours, the concentration of substrate was 5%. The FRSAs of hydroxyl, DPPH and superoxide anion radicals of the optimally prepared YCDP could be up to 39.63%, 71.08% and 69.93%, respectively, which were higher than those of CDP prepared from cattle hide under the same conditions. Further identification analyses showed that the components of YCDP with lower molecular weight contributed more to the FRSA of YCDP.
