Occupational safety and health (OSH) in leather-processing industries is of paramount importance, and requires attention with a focus on manufacturing and processing. In this regard, aspects to prevent health hazards and improve on adequate measures in OSH are essential for the leather industry. Better safeguards and practices are necessary in OSH for the benefit of not just people working in the industry, but also for the environment.
The situation is significant wherever toxic chemicals or hazards are associated with the industry. The degree of toxicity or hazard and exposure limit associated with it inside the factory premises are of particular concern. In addition to the hazardous chemicals, other aspects such as toxic gases, particulate matter, noise levels, personal safety, mechanical/ electrical safety and safety audit systems are also worth considering. |
