The cladding of metal frame structures with planking of composite plastics offers a cost-efficient alternative to the construction of lightweight, high-strength structures in automotive design and in the design of utility and rail vehicles. It involves the joining together of materials with different thermal expansion coefficients in such a way that relative displacements occurring during use due to changes in temperature can be compensated. Particularly suitable for this are thick-layer bonds (1-6 mm) with elastic polyurethane adhesives. |
