Résumé : |
Rust and scale layers can be gently removed from metal surfaces by using neutral pickling agents. The following reports shows the advantages and limitations of this process compared to conventional pickling solutions. |
Note de contenu : |
- Benefits of neutral pickling
- Rust removal depends on the time, temperature and concentration
- Measuring the concentration by means of conductance
- Measuring the iron content
- Application in practice
- FIGURES : 1. Mechanism of the descaling process - 2. Reaction equations of rust and scale removal (simplified) - 3. At 45°C, neutral pickling agents can quantitatively remove scale layers within one minute and rust layers within three minutes from the surface - 4. The complete removal of rust requires a concentration higher than eight percent and a treatment time of less than three minutes - 5. Dependence of conductance on the concentration
- TABLES : Characteristic data of Feroclean S 660 neutral pickling agent - 2. Case examples with the neutral pickling agent
