Résumé : |
Deutsche Bahn (DB) has launched a long-term project to coat articulated railcars with a variety of different coating systems and then inspect them annually. One locomotive has so far had a coating system applied that has produced an impressively uniform finish. |
Note de contenu : |
- Two coating systems with a uniform appearance
- Step-by-step application of coatings
- Greater flexibility for add-on parts
- Fig. 1. The coating systems applied to the railcar produced an impressively uniform finish
- Fig. 2. The first step was to coat the pre-primed surfaces on the lower part of the train, around the windows and on the roof with a basalt grey solvent-based ultra-high solids coating (UHS). Because of its excellent levelling and application properties, this coating is ideal for industrial products and construction vehicles
- Fig. 3. The next stage involved applying the light grey horizontal stripes and painting parts of the doors. After this the main traffic-red coating was applied and this was followed by an easy-to-clean clear coat, which acts as a protective coating for coloured and metallic paints |
