- Thermoset processing perspectives
- FIGURES : 1. melt pressure and mold cavity pressure curves during the injection and holding pressure phases of two BMC UP (GF+MD) material types with various viscosity: with the same process settings, various pressure curves result, which indicates a different molded part filling - 2. Injection molding of polyester bulk molding compounds with nonreturn valve. In contrast, free-flowing thermoset materials are processed without nonreturn valve. Accordingly changes in viscosity cause the return flow behavior to fluctuate by means of the screw theads and the molded part filling - 3. Résumé : |
Their characteristic property profile makes thermosets attractive for many high-performance applications. Batch fluctuations, as well as process and environmental instability, produce disruptive effects in the injection molding of this highly filled, mold cross-linking material class, which have a direct impact on part quality. As part of the "QuaProDur" research project, alongside the Rosenheim University of Applied Sciences, the Deckerform Produktionssysteme GmbH tool manufacturer and the HBW-Gubesch Thermoforming GmbH plastic fabrication company (all located in Germany), KraussMaffei is optimizing the processing of thermoset molding compounds. |
