Résumé : |
Linear abrasion testing is used in many fields of the industry and can be considered a valid testing method for various parameters, such as scratch/ mar resistance, colour fastness, smearing of print and many more. When the test is carried out diligently under defined conditions it is a reliable and reproducible test.
There is more capability in this testing method than is exploited today and it leaves space for more research in many fields. To name a few, the detailed analysis of the produced damages as compared to real life damages could lead to recommandations for the optimal choice of abrasive material on different coatings and substrates.
Considering the high innovation rate in the field of coatings, there is a demand for flexible testing methods that can be adapted quickly to innovative coating properties. The linear abrasion test offers a lot of potential for further development. |
