This has led to a successful development of innovative cellulose based functional fibers in the last century which are meanwhile commercially available on the market. Especially the embedding of liquid or meltable lipophilic compounds is very demanding. The Thuringian Institute for Textile and Plastics Research (TITK) has recently developed cellulose fibers containing permanent embedded vegetable oil or vitamins. They will open up new application as skin-care textiles.
