Keeping condition or shelf life affects physical properties, so it was tried to improve the properties by use of an antimicrobial finish. In this attempt the fibers were extracted from different varieties of sugarcane crop which are taken as COC671, COM 265, CO 86032. To study the effect of antimicrobial finish on shelf life, physical properties were tested like tensile strenght, extension (at max. load), stress relaxation, torsional rigidity and flexural rigidity of original sample. Antimicrobial finish was applied to half the fibers and the other half was kept as it is. Both types of samples kept were for 4 months and again the properties of both samples were tested. They were then compared with each other and with the original samples. |
