Carbonate de calcium Le carbonate de calcium (CaCO3) est composé d'un ion carbonate (CO32-) et d'un ion calcium (Ca2+), sa masse molaire est de 100,1 g/mole.
C'est le composant principal du calcaire et de la craie, mais également du marbre. C'est aussi le principal constituant des coquilles d'animaux marins, du corail et des escargots. Omya has developed products with a particle size designed to offer a range of opportunities for the application of calcium carbonate in the paint and coatings industry.
Natural calcium carbonates has become widely used as a mineral filler in the decorative paint industry. The reasons for this include its global availability and its excellent properties such as high brightness and low oil adsorption. However, just as important is the possiblity to develop products with a particle size designed to offert huge range of opportunities for the application of calcium carbonate in the paint and coatings industry.
The coarsest products based on this interesting material used in the coatings industry show a mean particle size of some milimetres, with the finest below one micron. Over decades the processing of calcium carbonates has consistently improved and today it is possible to develop products that were not achievable in the past, especially at the finer end of product range. But just having finer products available is not enough. The utilisation of these fine particles is the key to success. This requires also to have adequate overall properties which fulfil the requirements for modern coating raw materials, like easy dispersibility, cost efficiency. |
